Professional Pixel Fold Repair Guide
The Pixel Fold is a book-style foldable with an inner folding OLED, an outer cover display and a hinge — a specialised, lab-only repair. Tensor G2 heat makes battery wear and swelling a leading repair driver.

Tools Required
Precision Torx and Phillips screwdrivers, plastic picks, suction cups, controlled low heat, tweezers, SIM tool. Workshop: hot-air station, isopropyl alcohol, foldable-display adhesive, fresh hinge and waterproof seals.
Safety First
Power off, discharge below 25%, remove the SIM tray, ESD protection. Never pick or pry the inner foldable panel — it has a soft plastic top layer that scratches and dents. Use minimal, even heat. A swollen battery must never be punctured.
Opening the Pixel Fold
- Heat and remove the rear/cover glass.
- Work around the hinge cover and disconnect display flexes.
- Disconnect the battery first.
- Separate the two halves only as far as the service procedure requires.
Inner Foldable Display Replacement
The inner foldable OLED is supplied as a complete assembly. It is laminated over the hinge and must be aligned precisely so the fold crease sits true. Lab-only.
Cover Display Replacement
The outer OLED cover display is a separate assembly, replaced with fresh adhesive and verified for touch and 120Hz.
Hinge Service
The hinge is serviced as a module — cleaned, lubricated or replaced, with grit removed and seals renewed so the fold action stays smooth.
Side Fingerprint / Power Button
The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button on the frame. If replaced, reconnect the button flex and re-enrol the fingerprint — no optical calibration is required.
Battery Replacement
Tensor-driven heat makes battery wear and swelling common. Disconnect the connector, ease out the adhesive, and fit a fresh cell without bending. Re-seal.
Charging Port (USB-C) Repair
The USB-C port is on a lower daughterboard. Clean first; replace the sub-board if charging fails.
Water Damage
Power off, don’t charge, act fast. Open, disconnect the battery, ultrasonically clean the board.
