Tools Required
Phillips screwdrivers, plastic picks and opening tools, suction cup, controlled heat, tweezers, SIM tool. Workshop: hot-air station, isopropyl alcohol, display/back-cover adhesive.
Safety First
Power off, discharge below 25%, remove the SIM tray, ESD protection. Use even, controlled heat on the LCD.
Opening the Poco M5
- Heat the rear cover to soften adhesive.
- Lift the back cover with a suction cup and pick around the edges.
- Disconnect the antenna flex.
- Remove shields and disconnect the battery first.
Display Replacement
The LCD + digitizer is supplied as a glass-with-frame assembly. Seat with fresh adhesive and verify touch and 90Hz. There is no in-display fingerprint to align.
Side Fingerprint / Power Button
The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button on the frame. If replaced, reconnect the button flex and re-enrol the fingerprint — no optical calibration is required.
Battery Replacement
Disconnect the battery connector and ease out the adhesive pull-tabs (or apply isopropyl alcohol). Fit without bending and re-seal.
Charging Port (USB-C) Repair
The USB-C port is on a lower daughterboard. Clean first; replace the sub-board if charging fails.
Rear Panel Replacement
The plastic rear panel is adhesive-mounted — heated, lifted and re-adhered.
Water Damage
Power off, don’t charge, act fast. Open, disconnect the battery, ultrasonically clean the board.
